The Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden e. V. (IPF) is one of the largest polymer research institutes in Germany. As an institute of the Leibniz Association, it is committed to application-oriented basic research and receives its basic funding in equal parts from the federal and state governments. The IPF conducts holistic polymer materials research from the synthesis and modification of polymer materials, through characterization and theoretical penetration to processing and testing. The work at the IPF is characterized by the close cooperation between natural scientists and engineers, who have access to extensive technical equipment, including small-scale pilot plants for materials and technology development under industrial conditions. The focus is on material issues from real-life applications, which can be solved through targeted control of interfacial properties.
