BASF increases the prices for its compounded nylon 6 and nylon 66

23-Apr-2002

On May 1st this year, BASF will increase the prices for its compounded nylon 6 and nylon 66 in Europe by 200 Euro per metric ton. The background to this price increase is the sharp rise in base polymer prices.

BASF markets its engineering plastics nylon under the trade name Ultramid®. Ultramid A is the name for nylon 66, Ultramid B stands for nylon 6. Ultramid T and Ultramid C are copolyamides of nylon 6 and 66. Nylon is one of the most widely used engineering plastics, and has become indispensable in auto-motive and mechanical engineering and in electronics and electrical engineering. The material is characterized by a combination of high strength, stiffness and toughness as well as chemical and thermal resistance.
