New alliance strengthens Dow Cornings rubber fabrication solutions distribution network in USA
Under the terms of this agreement, Performance Silicones will distribute Silastic brand silicone and fluorosilicone rubber bases, additives, and modifiers and the Dow Corning brand Class VI silicone high consistency rubbers and liquid silicone rubbers. They will also custom compound materials for selected fabricators, using Silastic brand products. Under this agreement, Performance Silicones becomes the first distributor of Dow Corning's new Class VI line of elastomers for low risk healthcare applications, both non-implant and short-term implant (29 days or less).
"Performance Silicones Inc. market presence and knowledge, coupled with the products and services of Dow Corning, will offer superior value to our customers" says Ron Wilson, Rubber Industry commercial manager for Americas, Dow Corning. "The agreement will benefit customers with this new choice in our offering and our ways to serve them. They will receive a quicker response time in delivery and customer service, a more extensive product line that can be altered to fit their requirements, more product choices, and the ability to purchase material from one trusted source."
The agreement with Performance Silicones brings to the Western United States an easier access to Silastic and Dow Corning, the world's most trusted brands of silicone rubbers. This guarantees improved local service from a local and flexible source.
"Our healthcare customers in the Western United States have been asking us for local warehousing and shorter delivery times and this agreement should help to provide them exactly what they have been seeking" says Brian Jones, global market manager, Dow Corning Healthcare. "These new service choices offered by Dow Corning and Performance Silicones are yet another example of the improvements the company has implemented to bring total solutions to its customers."
Performance Silicones, Inc., in addition to its broad product line and knowledge in the rubber industry, will offer technical and commercial support to customers manufacturing elastomeric components for automotive, aviation, electronic, healthcare, electrical, and industrial machinery applications.
The new agreement strengthens Dow Corning's overall position in the American rubber processing market. A similar agreement was established with SilCoTec, LaPorte, Indiana, in 2002 to improve the service to Dow Corning customers in the Midwest United States.
