True simultaneous ICP-OES — chiller-free, high-speed, and built for regulatory-driven labs

High-throughput laboratories face a constant balancing act: deliver accurate, defensible elemental data while keeping operational costs and complexity under control. The Avio® 3000 ICP-OES from PerkinElmer addresses this challenge directly — combining third-generation proprietary technologies with field-proven innovations into a true simultaneous ICP-OES system engineered for both analytical performance and cost-efficient daily operation.

Next-Generation Detector for Speed and Precision

At the heart of the Avio® 3000 is a patented backside-illuminated BSI-CMOS sensor that improves signal-to-background ratios, enabling reliable detection of low-concentration analytes. Each analyte wavelength is read independently at its optimal integration time and measured simultaneously, delivering faster analysis with improved precision and lower relative standard deviations. Full spectral coverage spans 167–900 nm, while patented readout technology prevents signal spillover from high-concentration analytes — protecting the accuracy of adjacent low-level measurements. The detector is air-cooled, eliminating the need for a chiller entirely.

Cutting-Edge Optics and UV Boost Mode

The patented high-energy echelle-based polychromator delivers 6 pm of resolution at 200 nm and 20 pm at 550 nm, achieved through a freeform optic combined with a prism. All optical components feature a specialized UV coating optimized for wavelengths shorter than 220 nm, enhancing signal for low-emitting elements. Thermal stability minimizes wavelength drift, reducing the need for user intervention. The integrated UV Boost mode further amplifies sensitivity in the UV region for elements with emission lines below 243 nm — unlocking secondary emission lines previously too weak to use effectively, in both normal and high-resolution modes.

HeliPlate™ Plasma Technology and Chiller-Free Design

The Avio® 3000 incorporates HeliPlate™ plasma technology, which builds on the proven Flat Plate™ oscillator design. This innovation consumes up to 50% less argon than traditional helical coil systems while delivering a robust, stable plasma. Combined with a patented 40-MHz free-running solid-state RF generator — adjustable from 700 to 1500 watts — the system operates entirely without a chiller. The result is measurable savings in electricity, heat, noise, and maintenance, a reduced carbon footprint, and a smaller laboratory footprint, all without compromising plasma performance.

Proven Technologies for Reliable, High-Confidence Results

The Avio® 3000 also integrates established field-proven technologies that maximize analytical confidence across complex sample matrices:

  • Vertical Dual View combines axial and radial plasma viewing within a single method, expanding the linear dynamic range and providing flexibility when interferences occur.
  • PlasmaShear™ technology automates interference removal in axial analysis, protects optics from corrosion and deposition, and reduces ongoing maintenance requirements.
  • Universal Data Acquisition (UDA) within Syngistix™ for ICP software captures all available emission wavelengths with every sample run, enabling post-run reprocessing for additional elements or alternate wavelengths — without rerunning samples.
  • Multicomponent Spectral Fitting (MSF) uses the full spectral segment around each analyte wavelength to mathematically distinguish analyte signals from overlapping spectral contributions, improving detection limits, precision, and accuracy in complex matrices.

For laboratories operating under throughput pressure and regulatory requirements, the Avio® 3000 ICP-OES delivers the analytical performance, workflow efficiency, and cost control needed to keep results accurate and operations running smoothly — every run, every day.
