Appointments to Arkema’s Board of Directors

Arkema’s Board of Directors decided to propose to the next Ordinary General Meeting on June 1st 2010 the appointments of Mrs Isabelle Kocher and Mrs Claire Pedini as Directors of Arkema.

Arkema’s Board of Directors duly noted the resignation of Mr Tidjane Thiam in the light of his new position at Prudential Plc, and unanimously decided to co-opt Mrs Isabelle Kocher, Managing Director of Lyonnaise des Eaux (GDF-Suez Group) in his place. Her appointment is subject to approval by the Ordinary General Meeting on June 1st 2010.

At the same meeting, the Board of Directors also decided to propose to the next Ordinary General Meeting the appointment of Mrs Claire Pedini, Executive Vice President for Corporate Human Resources and Transformation at Alcatel-Lucent.

If the next Annual General Meeting approves these proposals, Arkema’s Board of Directors will comprise ten directors, eight of whom will be qualified as independent.

Isabelle Kocher, 42 years old, has been Managing Director of Lyonnaise des Eaux since 2007. She graduated from Ecole Normale Supérieure and is a Corps des Mines Engineer. Isabelle Kocher was in particular responsible for the post and telecommunications and the defence budgets at the Ministry for Economy, Finance and Industry from 1997. From 1999 to 2002, she was Industrial Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister. She joined the Suez Group’s Strategy and Development Department in 2002 as Central Director in charge of performance and organization until 2007.

Claire Pedini, 44 years old, is Executive Vice President for Corporate Human Resources and Transformation at Alcatel-Lucent, and member of the Alcatel-Lucent Management Committee. She holds a Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC) degree and a master’s degree in Media Management from Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Paris (ESCP). After holding a number of positions in finance and controlling at Total, Claire Pedini was responsible for the Group’s investor relations from 1992 to 1994, after completing the Group’s listing on the New York stock exchange in 1991. She subsequently headed Total’s Press Department from 1995 to 1997. She then joined Alcatel in September 1998 as Director of Financial Information and Shareholder Relations. In 2002 she became Vice President Investor Relations and Public Affairs, and in February 2004 Deputy Chief Financial Officer. In January 2006, she was appointed Senior Vice President Corporate Human Resources and member of the Executive Committee, and in June 2006, Senior Vice President Human Resources and Communications.
