UK North Sea : Final approval given for Nuggets development plan of Total Fina Elf
TotalFinaElf operates Nuggets N1, N2 and N3 with a 100% working interest. The development plan calls for subsea wells to be tied back via a pipeline to the Alwyn North facilities and controlled from the Dunbar platform. The Nuggets natural gas will be processed on the Alwyn North platform and carried to the St. Fergus terminal in Scotland through the Frigg Transportation System.
The development contracts for Nuggets N1 were signed in summer 2000, with options covering Nuggets N2 and N3. All three fields are expected to come on stream end of 2001. Combined production will be 165 million cubic feet per day of natural gas, optimizing the utilization of Alwyn’s processing capacity.
The project, which requires an investment of around $ 200 million, is the biggest satellite development in the Alwyn Area since Dunbar was brought on stream in late 1994. The Alwyn Area, where production began from the Alwyn North platform in 1987, is one of TotalFinaElf’s key assets in the UK sector of the North Sea, alongside the Elgin/Franklin and Bruce fields.
