Degussa Manager Dr. Heinz Rzehak Proposed as RÜTGERS New CEO

At its meeting on March 11, 2003, the Supervisory Board Executive Committee of RÜTGERS AG, Essen, recommended that Dr. Heinz Rzehak, 54, Head of the Care Specialties Business Unit of Degussa AG, Dusseldorf, and Member of the Board of Managing Directors of Goldschmidt AG, Essen, be appointed CEO of RÜTGERS AG. The present CEO of RÜTGERS, Werner Heep, announced several weeks ago that he would be stepping down at the end of the first quarter 2003. The Supervisory Board of RÜTGERS AG will decide on the successor at its meeting on March 24, 2003. The change in top management shall come into effect on April 1, 2003.
Degussa CEO, Prof. Utz-Hellmuth Felcht, comments: "I am pleased that the Supervisory Board Executive Committee of RÜTGERS AG has proposed Dr. Heinz Rzehak for the office of CEO of RÜTGERS. Dr. Heinz Rzehak is an outstanding manager who has a broad knowledge of specialty chemicals and many years' experience in this field. Speaking for Degussa, and personally, I would like to wish him every success in his new position."
Dr. Rzehak has a doctorate in chemistry and has held a range of management positions at the Degussa Group since 1978 - including functions in Austria and the USA. Rzehak initially headed the Aerosil & Silanes Business Unit in the new Degussa, before he became Head of the Care Specialties Business Unit. This business unit offers specialty products and system solutions for personal care, cleaners and detergents. Market preference is given to products based on mild surfactants and organic silicones, as well as active oxygen compounds as detergent bases. The Care Specialties Business Unit has reached sales of 549 million euros in 2002.
