DuPont Chemical Solutions Enterprise (DCSE) opens European research and development facility

17-Jun-2003

At a meeting with its key European customers, DuPont Chemical Solutions Enterprise (DCSE) leaders last week opened a new European research and development facility for its line of protective coatings and surface protection products.

As part of the company's strategy to increase surface protection and protective coating offerings to its European customers, DCSE purchased the ATOFINA surface protection business in September 2002. The new Mantes Technical and Expertise Center (MTEC) is located near its affiliated manufacturing site in Villers St. Paul, France, a former ATOFINA facility.

The Mantes center includes state-of-the-art equipment that will be used to provide local technical support to DCSE European customers. Because these products are custom-formulated for specific applications across several markets, senior scientists that are experts in fluorine chemistry will staff this facility.

The Mantes facility will provide technical support for products that include:

* DuPont(TM) Zonyl® and Foraperle® paper protection products, designed to protect food packaging such as pet food bags and microwave popcorn bags from water, oils and greases; * DuPont(TM) Teflon® Leather Protector, which keeps stains from penetrating leather so liquids can be blotted up quickly and dust and dry soil can be easily wiped away; * DuPont(TM) Zonyl® protective coatings for stone and tile applications - kitchens, flooring and bathrooms - that repels liquids and stains; and * DuPont(TM) Forafac® fire fighting foam additive, used in industrial fire fighting foam formulations to battle industrial fires, including commercial buildings, airports, harbors and other locations where a petrochemical fire may be a hazard.
