Eastman Exits Acrylic Emulsion Market

13-Apr-2004

Eastman Chemical Company's resins business, Eastman Resins, Inc. will no longer sell Hydro-Rez acrylic emulsions in the Americas, effective May 1. Specific products affected are:

In the Americas:

Hydro-Rez 3100, 3210, 3400, 3426, and 5159 acrylic emulsions.

In the Europe, Middle East and Africa regions:

Hydro-Rez 3100, 3400, 3426, 4100, 4105, 4120, and 5159 acrylic emulsions.

Marc Owens, product manager, Liquid Inks and Additives, North America for Eastman Resins said: "Despite more than two years' effort to develop the product line, we can no longer profitably manufacture, market or sell the emulsions in these regions. We will continue to support our remaining liquid ink lines, including sulfopolyesters, polyamides, polyketones, polyesters, and hydroxyl functional acrylics. Exiting the acrylic emulsion line in no way effects our commitment to expand Eastman Resins technologies into other existing or future chemistries, and offer our ink customers the most complete product line in the industry."
