Bayer and BASF complete a license agreement on the use of a technology for the production of polyether polyols
Bayer and BASF Aktiengesellschaft have completed a license agreement that allows BASF to produce polyether polyols using Bayer's Impact technology. Financial terms have not been disclosed. The Impact technology specifies an advantageous process for polyoxyalkylation which uses Double Metal cyanide (DMC) as catalyst. In particular, the license agreement includes a continuous process to produce long chain polyether polyols, which are used as the base products for flexible polyurethane slabstock foams. Bayer already successfully supplies these polyether polyols around the world. BASF will initiate the use of this technology in the future as conversion of production units allows and will ensure a smooth integration of the new products into the existing portfolio in close cooperation with its customers.
