Ashland increases European resin prices

28-Jul-2004

Ashland Composite Polymers, a business group within Ashland Specialty Chemical (ASC), a division of Ashland Inc. (NYSE:ASH), is increasing by 50 EURO/T the price of its unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester resins and gel coat products in Europe. This price increase will be effective Aug. 1, 2004, and is driven by a continuing escalation of raw material and energy costs. A tightening of benzene and maleic anhydride supplies, both key ingredients for some of our raw materials and/or finished products, has driven costs to unprecedented levels.

This price increase is in addition to the already combined price increase of 180 EURO/T announced in May and July 2004. Ashland Composite Polymers, a business group of Ashland Specialty Chemical, is a leader in supplying products, processes and technologies to the global marketplace for composites and gel coats.

Ashland Specialty Chemical, a division of Ashland Inc., is a leading, worldwide supplier of specialty chemicals serving industries including adhesives, automotive, composites, metal casting, merchant marine, paint, paper, plastics, watercraft and water treatment.
