AIR LIQUIDE AMERICA CORPORATION CLARIFIES PLAN TO IMPROVE PROFITABILITY

24-Nov-2000

HOUSTON (Oct. 23) - To avoid confusion surrounding a recent news announcement on Oct. 18, Air Liquide America Corporation today released the following clarifying points regarding its plan to improve profitability in U.S. markets:

Air Liquide America will divest its retail outlets.

Air Liquide America will continue to manufacture and distribute industrial welding gases.

Air Liquide America will service its small and retail cylinder gas customers through a new distributor network called ALNET.

Air Liquide America will continue to service large cylinder customers, concentrating on selling welding and cutting gases to this market. Air Liquide America will not sell or direct ship hardgoods to these customers, but instead will provide hardgoods through ALNET.

Air Liquide America assures all customers there will be no interruption of service due to the transition, expected to be completed second quarter 2001.

Air Liquide America will no longer directly resell welding hardgoods once the divestitures are complete. These products will instead be available to all Air Liquide America customers through ALNET.
