Brenntag Latin America sets landmark for chemicals distribution in Brazil

New distribution center opened in Sao Paulo

04-Nov-2004

On November 03, 2004 the Executive Board of Brenntag Group officially opened a new state-of-the-art expanded logistics center in Guarulhos, near Sao Paulo. For Brenntag in Latin America the inauguration is a cornerstone of the successful integration of the Fenil Química Sao Paulo facility into the new Guarulhos distribution center. The transfer of 64 storage tanks with a total capacity of 2,000 cubic meters was completed in less than two months.

Over an area of 15,000 square meters, "Guarulhos" has processing and storage areas of around 2,400 square meters, together with 67 new tank bases which were added to the existing infrastructure. The site has an annual handling volume of 40,000 tons of liquid chemicals and qualifies "Guarulhos" as the largest operating facility of Brenntag in Latin America. All aspects of the integrated Quality, Safety, Health & Environment issues, called CASA ("Calidad, Seguridad, Salud y Medio Ambiente"), are fully addressed and comply with local legislation and Brenntag standards. Benefiting from the natural sloping terrain, most of the tank truck discharges and chemical processing are accomplished by the use of gravity, avoiding extensive investments into pumps and electrical systems.
