Degussa To Expand Carbon Black Capacity In Brazil

16-Feb-2005
Degussa AG will increase the capacity of its Carbon Black plant in Paulinia, Brazil, to 100,000 metric tons per year. This investment has been approved by the Management Board of Degussa, clearing the way for construction to start immediately. The company first announced this project in September 2004. Degussa entered the Brazilian carbon black market two years ago in Paulinia when it set up a completely new production plant which uses the latest technology to assure both the efficiency of the processes involved and world-class standards in environmental protection. The dynamic growth of the Brazilian carbon black market and a favorable customer response has prompted Degussa to double the present capacity. An application for the necessary operating license has already been filed with the environmental authorities.
