Dow Announces Price Increases for VERSENE, VERSENEX and VERSENOL Chelating Agents in U.S. and Canada

MIDLAND, Mich. – September 5, 2001 — This week The Dow Chemical Company announces plans to increase prices for all VERSENE*, VERSENEX* and VERSENOL* chelating agents sold in the United States and Canada. Effective October 1, 2001, Dow will raise the list and off-list prices of the following products by 15%:

* VERSENE 100

* VERSENE 100 XL

* VERSENE 100 EP

* VERSENEX 80

* VERSENOL 120

* VERSENE Diammonium EDTA

* VERSENE Tetrammonium EDTA

* VERSENE Acid

* VERSENE 220 Crystal

* VERSENE NA2

* VERSENE Photochelate products, including 1,3-PDTA

Also effective October 1, Dow will increase the consumer list and off-list price of VERSENE NA chelating agent by 10% and the consumer list and off-list price of VERSENE CA chelating agent by 5%.

"In the past year we have experienced significant cost increases in raw materials and energy," said Julie McAlindon, Sr. Marketing Manager, Chelating Agents, The Dow Chemical Company. "It is necessary to recover these increases so that we can continue to provide our valued customers with the level of service they have come to expect and to value from Dow."
