BASF increases prices for BDO and derivatives

Effective December 1, 2005, BASF is increasing the sales prices for 1,4 butanediol (BDO) and its derivatives worldwide, as far as existing contracts permit. These adjustments are necessary to address high energy, raw material and logistics costs.
1,4-Butanediol (BDO): Increase Europe/[EUR/kg]: + 0,15 / Increase Asia/[USD/kg]: + 0,18 / Increase NAFTA/[USD/lb]: + 0,12
Gamma-Butyrolactone (GBL): Increase Europe/[EUR/kg]: + 0,15 / Increase Asia/[USD/kg]: + 0,18 / Increase NAFTA/[USD/lb]: + 0,12
N-Methylpyrrolidone: Increase Europe/[EUR/kg]: + 0,15 / Increase Asia/[USD/kg]: + 0,18 / Increase NAFTA/[USD/lb]: + 0,12
Tetrahydrofuran (THF): Increase Europe/[EUR/kg]: + 0,15 / Increase Asia/[USD/kg]: + 0,18 / Increase NAFTA/[USD/lb]: + 0,12
Polytetramethylene-etherglycol (PolyTHF®): Increase Europe/[EUR/kg]: + 0,15 / Increase Asia/[USD/kg]: + 0,18 / Increase NAFTA/[USD/lb]: + 0,12
With plants in Europe, NAFTA and Asia BASF is the world biggest maker of butanediol and its derivatives. The company has an annual production capacity of 500.000 mt BDO globally. BDO and its derivatives are used for producing engineering plastics, polyurethanes, solvents, electronic chemicals and elastic fibers (PolyTHF®).
