LANXESS NV to increase its competitiveness

Launch of a new project for strengthening performance

10-Jul-2006

Lanxess has launched the "RECOM" (REgaining COMpetitiveness) project to improve the competitiveness of the businesses at its Antwerp site, Belgium. End of June 2006 Rainier van Roessel, Head of the Business Unit rubber chemicals, took over the lead of the LANXESS N.V. management team while maintaining his current responsibilities as Global Head of Rubber Chemicals.

At a staff information event end of June 2006 in Antwerp LANXESS Labor Director Martin Wienkenhöver said: "The Antwerp site is of central importance to LANXESS. We must therefore arm ourselves for the future to regain the competitive edge we have lost. To achieve this, the efficiency of existing processes has to be reviewed and the effectiveness of current organizational structures, will be examined."

The products made in Antwerp and the site itself have always been of great importance to LANXESS. The aim of the "RECOM"-project is to make the entire site fit for the future and to regain the site's international competitiveness. LANXESS is convinced that chemistry in Antwerp can be managed in a profitable way.

LANXESS N.V. produces in Belgium products like key rubber chemicals for the rubber industry.
