Ashland Electronic Chemicals Manufacturing Plant in Italy Receives ISO 14001 Certification

31-Oct-2001

The Electronic chemicals Division of Ashland Specialty Chemical Company announces that its Ashland Italia Ltd. manufacturing facility in Milan, Italy, has been certified to ISO 14001, an international standard for environmental management systems. This signifies an independent assessment and certification that Ashland’s Milan facility established and maintains a structured approach to control the environmental impact of its processes, and that the environmental objectives and targets it sets are being effectively achieved as part of a continuous improvement process. Det Norske Veritas is the registrar body that performed the assessment.

Ashland’s Milan plant manufactures and supplies wet-process chemicals, photoresist strippers and etch residue removers for the European semiconductor industry. Ashland recently expanded the facility to incorporate production of the company’s ACT stripper products, continuing a series of expansions and enhancements it has made around the world to serve the microelectronics industry.

Geoffrey Hitchmough, Electronic Chemicals Division business director for Europe, said, “This is a further demonstration of Ashland’s social consciousness and of our long-term program for sustainable development. Ashland is committed to environmental stewardship with the same dedication we have for earning industry recognition for our product quality, efficient customer service and technological leadership. Everyone at Ashland Italia in Milan is pleased to share in this ongoing responsibility.”
