Tom Connelly Discusses DuPont Commitment to Sustainable Growth on India Visit

February 14, 2002  — DuPont Senior Vice President and Chief Science

and Technology Officer Tom Connelly recently visited India, where he met with company employees and delivered an address at the Delhi Sustainable Development Summit 2002.

The summit was organized by the Tata Energy Research Institute (TERI) and was attended by corporate leaders from India and other countries, including Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee.

At the event, Tom discussed the DuPont mission of achieving sustainable growth. He urged businesses to rely less on being volume driven and more on being value driven and knowledge intensive.

During his four-day visit to India, Tom - who was joined by DuPont India President Pankaj Shah - met with some of the country's senior government officials to discuss India's energy shortage, biotechnology, food, nutrition and other issues. He also met with Dr. V. Prakash, director of the Central Food & Technological Research Institute of India and recipient of the DuPont Protein Technologies Award in 2001.

Tom also led a town meeting with DuPont India employees in Gurgaon, discussing some of the company's promising new products and technologies.
