TOC/TNb analyzers

Total organic carbon (TOC) is an important summary parameter for assessing organic contaminants in water and environmental analysis. Whether for water quality, carbon sequestration in soils, waste analysis, or cleaning validation, Elementar’s TOC analyzers enable reliable and precise determination of carbon in liquid and solid samples, even in challenging matrices.

Elementar’s TOC analyzers combine powerful oxidation methods with precise detection to deliver reliable, reproducible results. Even hard-to-combust organic compounds are reliably digested. This allows for the reliable analysis of a wide variety of samples, such as ultrapure water, pharmaceutical water, drinking water and wastewater, salt solutions, soil extracts, soils, biomass, biochar, and waste.

The acquray TOC was specifically developed to meet the high demands of the pharmaceutical industry. UV-assisted chemical oxidation enables reliable TOC determination in purified water, WFI, process water, and during cleaning validation. With injection volumes of up to 40 mL, the system is particularly well-suited for determining low TOC concentrations and meets the relevant requirements of USP, EP, and GMP.

Automated workflows and optimized sample feeding enable efficient routine operation with minimal manual effort. The enviro TOC and the vario TOC cube utilize Elementar’s proven high-temperature combustion technology and reliably analyze even samples containing particles. A special matrix separation technique also enables the measurement of saline samples with high injection volumes. Both analyzers offer flexible solutions for TOC, NPOC, TC, TIC, DOC, POC, and TNb analysis in liquid and, depending on the configuration, solid samples. Different measurement methods and detection options allow for adaptation to individual analytical requirements.

For automated TOC determination and the differentiation of carbon fractions in solids, the soli TOC cube offers a solution specifically tailored to this purpose. Using the temperature ramp method, organic carbon (TOC400), residual oxidizable carbon (ROC), and inorganic carbon (TIC900) can be differentiated. The flexible method configuration enables the investigation of complex issues related to carbon fractions in soils and waste in accordance with EN 17505. Alternatively, TOC determination at a constant temperature is also possible.
