Fraunhofer-Institut für Siliziumtechnologie (ISIT)

Fraunhofer ISIT develops and manufactures components for microelectronics and microsystems technology, starting with the design, including system simulation, through prototyping and sampling to series production. The components, for example valves, deflection mirrors or motion sensors, as they are created at Fraunhofer ISIT, are often only fractions of a millimeter in size and their areas of application are diverse: they are used in medicine, in environmental and traffic engineering, in communication technology, in automotive and mechanical engineering. ISIT develops such components on behalf of customers and also realizes the application-specific circuits (ASIC) required to operate sensors and actuators. This service includes integration into the overall system using miniaturized assembly and connection technologies. Together with the company Vishay Siliconix Itzehoe GmbH, the institute operates a professional semiconductor production line with all the necessary quality certifications (e.g. ISO 9001, TS 16949). This line is used for the production of microelectronic components (PowerMOS) and microsystems as well as for the development of new components and technological processes.
