Epson ColorWorks: Print durable, BS5609 compliant GHS and laboratory colour labels on demand!
About Epson
Epson ColorWorks printers are an ideal choice for chemical manufacturers and laboratories because they combine outstanding print quality and durability, flexibility, and full GHS compliance in a single system. Whether producing tiny labels for test tubes or large‑format markings for industrial drums, these devices enable precise, durable hazardous‑material labeling directly on site. Thanks to pigment‑based inks and synthetic Epson media, the resulting labels are smudge‑resistant as well as UV‑, water‑ and chemical‑resistant. When used with Epson polypropylene materials, they even meet the stringent BS5609 certification requirements, making them perfectly suited for demanding laboratory and production environments.
A major advantage is true on‑demand printing: full‑color GHS pictograms, text, barcodes, QR codes, logos, or variable batch information—everything is printed in a single step onto blank labels. Pre‑printed stock, safety reserves, or disposal of outdated labels due to last‑minute design changes become unnecessary.
With the integrated automatic cutter, label formats ranging from 25.4 to 215.9 mm in width and up to 1,117 mm in length can be produced flexibly. This allows laboratories and chemical manufacturers to print exactly the quantities and formats they need while remaining fully adaptable.
Print resolutions of up to 1200 × 1200 dpi ensure razor‑sharp results, even for very small fonts, complex hazard symbols, and detailed graphics. At the same time, print speeds of up to 300 mm/s make the devices suitable for high‑throughput production environments. Full‑color printing also enables clear visual highlighting of safety‑critical information.
The Globally Harmonized System (GHS) requires that the number of pictograms precisely matches the actual hazards. Empty or unnecessary symbols are not permitted. The single‑step printing process of the ColorWorks series ensures that every label is produced correctly, completely, and in full compliance—without manual rework or the risk of misprints. This reduces errors and increases safety throughout the entire supply and usage chain.
By producing labels in‑house, companies avoid dependence on external service providers, eliminate delivery delays, and reduce unnecessary inventory costs. Individual labels can be adapted at any time—for example, when formulations change, new regulations apply, or laboratory workflows shift. All devices in the series support printing from Mac and Windows environments as well as SAP, making integration into existing infrastructures straightforward. Their robust construction and low maintenance requirements further ensure reliable day‑to‑day operation.
Epson ColorWorks printers combine technical precision, regulatory safety, and economic efficiency. They streamline production processes, increase flexibility, and help reduce costs sustainably—an essential advantage for modern chemical companies and laboratories.
