About ChiroBlock

ChiroBlock GmbH is a specialized provider of chemical custom synthesis, process development and the recurring manufacture of customer-specific fine and specialty chemicals. Since 1999, the company has developed and synthesized complex organic compounds that are not commercially available or whose available quality, synthesis route or supply reliability does not meet the requirements of a specific application.

ChiroBlock supports chemical projects from the first synthesis approach through route scouting, synthesis optimization and scale-up to the documented manufacture of recurring batches. Depending on the compound and project, quantities range from milligrams to kilograms.

The services are organized into three connected areas:

MoleculeFactory – Chemical Custom Synthesis Development and synthesis of novel, complex or commercially unavailable target compounds. A project may start from a chemical structure, a literature route, a reference material or a specific research and development requirement.

ReDesignFactory – Process Development and Synthesis Optimization Evaluation, redesign and optimization of existing synthesis routes. Objectives may include replacing problematic starting materials or reagents, avoiding chromatographic purification, improving reproducibility or developing a laboratory route for larger-scale manufacture.

SupplyChainFactory – Recurring Synthesis and Supply Manufacture of customer-specific fine and specialty chemicals in recurring batches. Depending on the project, this may include defined specifications, documented manufacturing procedures, agreed release testing, traceability and controlled repeat supply.

A further focus is on established chemical compounds that do not perform reliably in a particular application despite having the correct identity or high nominal purity. ChiroBlock helps identify application-relevant quality attributes, translate them into a testable chemical specification and adapt synthesis and purification accordingly. Functional suitability is generally confirmed by the customer or a designated testing laboratory unless a different project scope has been expressly agreed.

ChiroBlock serves research and development departments, start-ups, universities and companies in the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, diagnostics, specialty chemicals, electronics and functional materials sectors.

At its site in the Bitterfeld-Wolfen Chemical Park in Germany, ChiroBlock operates synthesis laboratories and kilo-lab facilities. The company works under an ISO 9001-certified quality management system. Projects can be conducted under an NDA or CDA, with intellectual property and usage rights agreed on a project-specific basis.

ChiroBlock is not a catalog supplier. Every compound is handled on a customer- and project-specific basis according to the agreed objectives, quantity, quality and documentation requirements. For suitable custom synthesis projects, a performance-based contractual model may also be available under the principle “Fee for Result – Risk Free”: if the defined synthesis result is not delivered, no payment is due for the synthesis service.
