SMC Announces Price Increases of Parachlorobenzotrifluoride (PCBTF)

22-Jan-2010 - USA

Special Materials Company is increasing prices of parachlorobenzotrifluoride (all grades) $0.12/pound in response to cost pressures from raw material increases including toluene, chlorine and fluorine along with significant increase in freight rates. In addition, the duty exemption for PCBTF expired on 12/31/09 and the duty for PCBTF is now 5.5%. The increase will be effective February 1, 2010 or as contracts allow.

Product Manager Diane Tramontana states, “PCBTF is an integral part of our Compliance Solutions business offering a range of options for VOC and HAPs compliance challenges. We were able to offset raw material increases received in the fourth quarter of 2009 by negotiating historically low freight rates. However, continued raw material increases combined with increased freight rates make this increase necessary. We remain focused on producing industry leading high quality PCBTF, providing reliable North American supply and to continue to aggressively managing costs.”
