DuPont Announces Polymer Modifier Information Sites
According to DuPont New Initiatives Manager Barbara Glazar, the two-site approach addresses a growing global community of compounders and plastics manufacturers interested in easy-to-use approaches to toughening of engineering polymers such as PA and PBT, pellet blendable coupling agents for inorganic fillers, compatibilizing agents (polymeric adhesion promoters), polymers for flexibilizing PVC and carrier resins for masterbatch manufacturing.
"Resin manufacturers recognize DuPont as a leading supplier of specialized ethylene-based, functionalized modifiers and technologies for building higher-performance resins," said Glazar. "At `polymermodifiers.dupont.com,' we've collected detailed information that can help customers design and manufacture higher-value resins."
The new online content includes test data resulting from the use of selected polymers to achieve desired performance in polyamides, polypropylenes, polyesters, polyethylenes, PVC and other popular resins. Product data is offered for the industry's broadest selection of polymer-based modifiers, including reactive and nonreactive ethylene copolymers and terpolymers, functionalized olefins and ionomers.
"DuPont polymers are among many categories of additives available to today's compounders," notes Glazar. "To provide convenient access to information about formulating with our products, we've joined the online community at SpecialChem, and are making our information available at their toughening and adhesion TechCenters."
SpecialChem has organized a highly specialized community of over 12,000 plastics industry professionals who benefit from the site's exclusive and comprehensive technical information and assistance dedicated to plastics additives and modifiers.
The white pigments business of DuPont, the world's largest producer of titanium dioxide, joined SpecialChem in March 2002, helping establish SpecialChem as an online focal point for additional DuPont offerings.
