Shell Spins Off Software Company Kalido Ltd
Kalido Ltd. today announced its formal spin-off from Shell services International (SSI), making its breakthrough global performance management solution available commercially wordwide. The launch of Kalido Ltd. as a separate organisation enables the company to focus aggressively on the sales and marketing of its flagship product, the KALIDO Data Warehouse. KALIDO was initially conceived in 1996 within the IT services arm of Royal Dutch/Shell Group of Companies (Shell) to address the complex data management issues faced by Shell’s diverse businesses. Shell continues to be a key strategic investor in Kalido Ltd.
KALIDO Data Warehouse, now in its sixth release, is a proven solution with over 100 sites in over 85 different countries. Taking a radically different approach to data warehousing, KALIDO can be deployed as a dynamically linked federation of warehouses. KALIDO’s federated system connects companies’ global and regional organisations, delivering both unified and multiple views of their business, solving a significant problem that has plagued global companies. Based on its unique patents-pending design, KALIDO allows users to generate reports on their business-critical information even if the data formats are inconsistent. It also allows analysis to continue during business change, such as expansion into new geographical locations, company re-organisations or mergers and acquisitions.
“In order for large organisations to successfully capitalise on strategic business opportunities in today’s competitive climate, they need their organisations’ vital business and financial performance information ‘on tap,’ said Andy Hayler, CEO of Kalido Ltd. “KALIDO Data Warehouse allows our customers to maintain a global view of their business without affecting the way the local or regional arms of their organisation conduct business and manage their information.”
“We have seen the KALIDO product mature over the last four years, bringing great value to Shell. We are confident that KALIDO will similarly deliver significant return on investment to other large organisations that face the challenge of measuring business performance on a global scale,” said Mark Pyman, chief financial officer of Shell Services International. “The incorporation of Kalido Ltd. is an exciting new venture, and Shell is fully supportive of this endeavour.”
