ECHA Press Release: New public consultation on a CLH proposal for a pesticide

27-Sep-2012 - Finland

ECHA invites the parties concerned to comment on a new proposal for harmonised classification and labelling (CLH) for spirotetramat, a pesticide widely used in agriculture. The public consultation opens for 45 days and will end on 9 November 2012. The CLH report and the dedicated webform to post the comments are available on the ECHA website.

ECHA's Committee for Risk Assessment (RAC) will consider the comments received during the public consultation when developing its opinion on the CLH proposal, in accordance with article 37(4) of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP Regulation). The Commission takes into account the RAC opinion when it decides whether the CLH proposal is accepted and if so, the substance is added to the list of harmonised classification and labelling of hazardous substances (Part 3 of Annex VI to the CLP Regulation).

Parties concerned are invited to identify themselves and register through a dedicated webform during the public consultation on the CLH proposal. On a case-by-case basis, ECHA may need to contact them in order to discuss specific issues related to the CLH of the substance. The Agency strongly encourages parties concerned to register on the ECHA website, although they do not intend to provide comments during the public consultation.
