Appointments at DSM

Mr Paul Hamm (52), currently director of the DSM Elastomers business group, has been appointed director of the new business group DSM Corporate Venturing & business development with effect from 1 March 2001. He will be succeeded as director of DSM Elastomers by Mr Ben van Kooten (49), currently director of the DSM Engineering Plastic Products business group that was recently taken over by Quadrant Holding (Switzerland).

The new business group DSM Corporate Venturing & Business Development has been set up within the framework of Vision 2005, Focus and Value, DSM's corporate strategy for the next few years. By 2005 DSM aims to rank among the world's leading players in advanced chemical and biotechnological products and performance materials. The new business group will be active in business development and venturing and will be involved in acquisitions made as part of Vision 2005. It will comprise the present business units New Business Development, DSM High Performance Fibers, DSM Solutech, SBR and Methanor.

DSM Elastomers comprises the Keltan® EPDM business, EPsyn® EPM-based oil additives and Sarlink® thermoplastic vulcanisates. Its strategy is aimed at expanding its global leadership positions. In line with Vision 2005 DSM Elastomers, as part of the Performance Materials cluster, will concentrate on growing its existing activities and adding new products to its portfolio.
