Celanese announces change at Ticona Management

Celanese AG announced that the Board of Management has appointed Lyndon Cole in a dual role as President of Ticona, the engineering plastics business of Celanese and head of a newly created Growth Excellence Council. The appointments become effective on April 1, 2003. Currently, Lyndon Cole serves as President of Celanese Chemicals.

The Growth Excellence Council will include leaders from each Celanese business as well as from operations and innovation excellence areas. The focus will primarily be on identifying, prioritizing and implementing best practices across Celanese for accelerating the growth of the businesses.

Prior to joining Celanese in 2002, Lyndon Cole served as Chief Executive Officer of Elementis PLC. He had previously spent combined 20 years in various general management and commercial positions at GE Plastics and Dow Chemicals Europe.

Lyndon Cole succeeds Stefan Sommer, who has decided to leave Celanese on March 31, 2003 to pursue new responsibilities. The Board of Management sincerely thanks him for his strong engagement in aligning Ticona to overall company's strategy of strengthening growth and productivity and his many positive contributions to the success of the company.
