Solutia features new Therminol products at ACHEMA 2003
Therminol VP-3, introduced in December 2001, was the first new high- temperature vapor phase heat transfer fluid to hit the market in over 50 years. Therminol VP-3 is a proprietary fluid that offers a boiling point of 243 C, which is lower than conventional biphenyl/diphenyl oxide eutectic fluids, giving users more flexibility in operating in the vapor phase region. The lower boiling point enables manufacturers to easily process or spin nylon 6 or specialty polyester-based polymers at a lower temperature, which they could previously achieve only by operating a conventional biphenyl/diphenyl oxide heat transfer system under vacuum.
The Therminol family of heat transfer fluids features products that can meet the operating needs of virtually any single or multiple heat-using system. In properly designed systems, these heat transfer fluids will perform within their respective temperature ranges for extended periods without breakdown or corrosion.
