Dow Chemical: Joyce Resigns from Dow Board of Directors

Dr. William H. Joyce, a director and a vice chairman of The Dow Chemical Company's Board of Directors, has resigned effective today, May 8. He has resigned to become chief executive officer and a member of the Board of Hercules Incorporated.

Joyce will not be replaced at this time, reducing the number of Dow directors from 15 to 14.

Joyce joined the Dow Board of Directors on February 6, 2001, as a result of the merger between Dow and Union Carbide Corporation. Previously at Union Carbide, he had served as a director for nine years and as CEO for five.
