10-Dec-2003
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK and ST. LOUIS, Dec. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Synthematix, Inc., a provider of chemistry reaction planning tools for synthetic chemists, and Sigma-Aldrich (Nasdaq: SIAL), a leading Life Science and High Technology company, announced the deployment of a new leading edge chemical structure/substructure search engine technology developed by Synthematix for Sigma-Aldrich's highly successful e-Commerce site, www.sigma-aldrich.com . In response to customer requests, Sigma-Aldrich has deployed the enhanced functionality of the Synthematix chemical structure/substructure technology, allowing users to draw molecules, combine with name fragments or physical properties, and then rapidly search for matches from over 160,000 possible compounds. Searching for exact structure matches as well as substructures and chiral compounds is now possible and the results then can be exported in a variety of formats that drug discovery chemists commonly use. The search technology has been deployed within the Sigma-Aldrich web site at www.sigma-aldrich.com . "Sigma-Aldrich selected Synthematix after a thorough review of all the available technologies relating to searching for chemical structures and substructures," said Brad Johnson, director of e-Business for Sigma-Aldrich. "Synthematix's technology offered the fastest search speed combined with all the functionality expected by our customers. In addition, Synthematix has done an excellent job of working with our technical staff to integrate this new technology into our existing e-Commerce architecture and deploy it in record time." "We are thrilled to have been selected by Sigma-Aldrich," said Steve Jones, Synthematix CEO. "Sigma-Aldrich is recognized world-wide as the leading supplier of biochemical and organic chemical products for research and development. Their e-Commerce site is used by thousands of chemists daily. We are extremely pleased to be able to assist those chemists in effectively and efficiently finding the compounds they need from Sigma-Aldrich. This is a great opportunity to show our technology in action. chemistry organizations can also use our search engine when they use our highly successful ARTHUR(TM) Software Suite, designed for enterprise-wide synthetic reaction planning and route exploration."
