BOC signs global deal with domnick hunter

The global scientific community can now choose the gas supply solution right for them following an exclusive multi-million pound deal between BOC Scientific and domnick hunter group plc.

The three - year deal, which will see domnick hunter supply all of BOC Scientific's gas generators, means customers in a range of industries, such as petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, automotive, environmental monitoring and research, can receive their gas by the most appropriate supply option, either gas generators or cylinders.

Under the deal, customers now have the option of operating leased gas generators using a number of permutations. domnick hunter gas generators offer safe, reliable gas supplies whether as stand-alone units or as part of a total gas supply package incorporating safety and back-up cylinder options.

A number of orders for gas generators have already been placed in the UK and US under the new agreement, which also covers Europe, Canada, South Africa, Asia, Australia, South Pacific, Latin America and Japan. In the UK, four hydrogen, air and nitrogen generators have already been sold for research application purposes.

Stephen Harrison, global director, BOC Scientific, said: "What customers get from the agreement and the use of gas generators is flexibility and continuity of supply of all of their gas needs from their trusted supplier - BOC. In addition, they can have confidence that their supplier will offer them the most cost effective solution, and safety, reliability and convenience from the widest range of options."

The generators - which can provide high purity air, hydrogen or nitrogen - are used for laboratory applications such as running scientific analytical instrumentation - gas chromatographs. A generator is a convenient and reliable way to provide gas and is ideally suited to customers with larger demands or in areas not within cost-effective reach for cylinders.

Focus on the deal comes less than a month after the launch of the BOC Scientific brand in the UK. The new brand, which will be launched globally in 2004, brings together an existing product range of certified calibration gas mixtures, instrumentation gases, gas control equipment and now gas generators for analytical applications.
