Kerr-McGee Chemical Enhances Productivity at Savannah Pigment Facility

23-Jan-2004
Kerr-McGee Chemical LLC announces the start- up of a new high productivity Oxidation line (HiPOL) at its Savannah, Ga. chloride process titanium dioxide (TiO2) pigment plant. HiPOL results in low- cost, incremental capacity increases through modification of existing chloride oxidation lines. HiPOL allows for improved efficiencies through simplification of hardware configurations and reduced maintenance requirements. Kerr-McGee Chemical acquired the Savannah facility in 2000. Separately, the company announces plans to temporarily idle one of its sulfate production lines at the Savannah facility. As a result, the facility's workforce will be temporarily reduced by approximately 39 positions to about 420. Kerr-McGee will continue to meet all customer needs.
