NOVA Chemicals NAS® and ZYLAR® available for the first time through national distributors
According to Greg Wilkinson, Business Director for NAS and ZYLAR, “By expanding the availability of NAS and ZYLAR, we will be able to meet the growing demand for transparent materials from customers in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Transparency has quickly become a fundamental design element, and our clear NAS and ZYLAR products continue to show strong growth.”
According to a recent study, more than two-thirds of the OEMs, molders and designers surveyed expect that fashion-driven demand for transparent materials will continue to grow. “As market demand for clear polymers steadily increases, NAS and ZYLAR are meeting the design requirements for these transparent applications,” said Wilkinson.
NAS and ZYLAR, the “clear alternatives” to acrylic, polycarbonate and clear ABS, deliver lower total molding costs and excellent product performance. Molders can enjoy lower per-part cost resulting from the significantly lower specific gravities of NAS and ZYLAR, as well as cost-saving operational improvements, including reduced cycle times, lower molding temperatures and better regrind rates. NAS is an SMMA (styrene methylmethacrylate copolymer) and ZYLAR is the significantly tougher, impact-modified version. Some recent product applications include office accessories, cosmetics packaging, medical devices, toys, computer peripherals, point-of-purchase displays, faucet handles and water filter pitchers.
