Sanyo Chemical to Build Polyurethane Plant in US

02-Aug-2001
Sanyo Chemical and resins, a subsidiary of Japan’s Sanyo Chemical Industries, plans to construct 3 kts/pa polyurethane resin plant in Pennsylvania by mid-2002. At its Nagoya complex in Japan, Sanyo currently produces 10 kts/pa of polyurethane, 1 kts/pa of which is exported to Asia and the US. By the time the new US complex is completed the Japanese production, that is normally allocated to the US market, will shift to the Asian market. This move comes as part of Sanyo's focus on building coatings production facilities near the source demand, especially in the US.
