BP today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MUO) with JTC Corporation (JTC) to co-operate in the development and installation of
hydrogen refuelling technology. This collaboration promotes and encourages more activities in green technologies such as alternative energies and the application of
hydrogen fuel cell technology. In addition, this also supports BP's involvement in the Clean Cars for Clean Cities Project.
The MOU marks BP's second
hydrogen refuelling station in
Singapore. The first was opened at a retail site on Upper East Coast in July 2004. The second hydrogen station will be located within one-north development, an innovation and research hub.
The second hydrogen refuelling station will be different from the first site. It will be stand alone and will consist of
hydrogen production facility utilising electrolysis technology by
Singapore Oxygen
Air Liquide (SOXAL) for on-site
hydrogen production,
compression equipment and a vehicle refuelling
dispenser unit located under a canopy. The project should be completed by second quarter of 2005.
The Clean Cars for Clean Cities project is a collaborative effort between BP and DaimlerChrysler to support the introduction of pre-commercial
hydrogen fuel cell cars and hydrogen fuel infrastructure in Singapore, Los Angeles and Berlin, started in 2004 for an initial period of up to 3 years.
