e-epoxy.com expanded its product offerings
beyond
epoxy resins from The
Dow Chemical Company today to include silicon-based
resins and additives from
Dow Corning Corporation. In addition, the site has been
extended so that formulators of
coatings,
composites and
adhesives can now purchase
products and have them delivered to locations in Latin America, Central Europe, The
Middle East,
Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Southeast Asia, as well as the previous locations
in North America and Western Europe.
“e-epoxy.com is a very simple, straightforward way for formulators and
fabricators to buy
raw materials they need for their coatings, adhesives and composites
applications ,” Mike Lanham, commercial director, web business at Dow Corning, says.
“Adding our products to the existing portfolio will give customers in these industries a
very effective purchasing channel.”
e-epoxy.com, the first ever Web site designed exclusively for the sale of epoxy
resins and related products, launched in January 2001 offering high volume epoxy resins
and related products from The
Dow Chemical Company. Since then, formulators and
fabricators across multiple industries, including coatings, composites and adhesives, have
purchased high-volume epoxy resins through the site.
“Six months after we launched the site, we had surpassed our year-end sales
goals,” recalls Ian Telford, director of e-commerce for epoxy products and intermediates
at Dow. “And, more than 2/3 of those sales made through the site were new business for
Dow.”
Dow and Dow Corning are independently run companies with differing business
goals and strategies. By offering products complimentary to one another on the site, they
are providing customers with a procurement channel unlike any other in the industry.
“The e-epoxy.com development team put a lot of thought behind the concept,
design and development of e-epoxy.com,” Lanham says. “It serves a need that has
previously been unmet in these industries.”
e-epoxy.com is designed for those that can work with straightforward business
rules, such as ordering in fixed quantities, a fixed payment term and penalties for order
changes and cancellations. According to Telford and Lanham, customers who can work
within these parameters will find e-epoxy.com an easy, efficient and economical
compliment to their existing strategies. e-epoxy.com provides value through simplicity.
The site is designed for customers looking for a fast, no-frills way to spot buy.
In addition, e-epoxy.com offers quick access to important resources, including
technical specification and material safety data sheets in nine languages – English,
German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
“We are currently working with several other potential suppliers interested in
providing complimentary products through e-epoxy.com,” Telford says. “For many
customers, e-epoxy.com is a better way to buy epoxies and related products. We are
continually striving to make it even better.”
