New BASF blue pigment for UV-curing printing inks

11-Dec-2000

BASF has developed a new copper phthalocyanine pigment for the growing world UV-curing ink market - Heliogen Blue D 7092. Available immediately, the new pigment meets the special requirements of UV printing technology in offset, flexographic, screen and tin printing. Coloristically it exhibits high colour strength, a greenish pure hue and high transparency. A characteristic feature of Heliogen Blue D 7092 is its high affinity for UV binders, which gives it very good performance in terms of colour strength development, flow and storage stability. The pigment disperses readily in UV printing ink systems to yield an optimum particle size distribution.

BASF's pigment range includes colorants for the coatings industry, for colouring plastics, for special industries and ceramics, and for all types of printing inks and processes.

BASF is a return-focused global company generating long-term growth and profitability from its activities. In addition to dyestuffs and pigments, leather and textile chemicals, and printing inks and plates, the company's product range includes chemicals with high added value, plastics, dispersions, automotive and industrial coatings, crop protection products, pharmaceuticals, fine chemicals, oil and gas. BASF's approach to integration, known in German as "Verbund", is one of the company's particular strengths and provides a unique competitive advantage. With sales in 1999 of EUR 29.5 billion (DM 57.5 billion) and 105,000 employees, BASF is one of the world's top chemical companies.
