New production plant for Ciba® TINUVIN® 770 in Lampertheim, Germany
Addressing a large audience of customers invited to the site to celebrate the start-up of this new facility, Felix Meyer, Global Head of Ciba’s Plastics Additives Segment, said: “The new production plant demonstrates Ciba’s commitment to competitiveness and innovation and helps to ensure continued reliable supply of high-quality light stabilizers worldwide.”
A year ago, Ciba announced a 70 million CHF plan to extend its production capacities of light stabilizers worldwide. Besides the major site located in Italy, near Bologna, and the new supply point coming on stream in Puebla (Mexico) in 2002, the new German facility represents the state-of-the-art in light stabilizer production. The innovative, multi-stage, back-integrated production process for TINUVIN 770 involves the synthesis of various molecules from simple raw materials available worldwide, without costly and time-consuming isolation of intermediates. Furthermore, 30 years of experience are built into this advanced manufacturing technology, leading to a virtually waste-free production process, increased yield, improved environmental acceptability and higher cost effectiveness.
