Ashland Distribution Company Names Washington Customer Support Manager
In his new position, Washington is responsible for managing all aspects of the division’s customer support operations including its customer service and materials management functions. He will be based in Dublin, Ohio, and report to Snyder. Snyder said, “ I am confident that Joe’s strong leadership ability, combined with his extensive IT and administrative experience, will help our division continue to grow and become an even bigger player in the marketplace. His appointment to this position supports our goal of establishing the Fine Ingredients Division as the leader in the distribution of ingredients into the Food & Beverage, Nutraceutical, Pharmaceutical, and Personal Care markets. Driving our performance will be highly experienced and trained people from the industries we serve, allowing us to provide better service to our customers and strengthen our partnerships with key suppliers.”
Washington previously served as executive assistant to Paul Chellgren, chairman and CEO, Ashland Inc., a position he has held since June 1998. He joined the company in 1990 as a computer programmer in Ashland Petroleum’s Information Technology Services group. During his tenure, he also has served as a computer engineer, computer analyst, systems engineer, and as a senior systems integrator for Marathon-Ashland Petroleum LLC.
A native of Fayetteville, N.C., Washington earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Winston-Salem State University and a master’s degree in business administration from Morehead State University.
