BASF bought back shares for EUR 1.3 billion in 2001

BASF completed its share buy-back program as planned in 2001. BASF used EUR 1.3 billion to buy back a total of 30,775,000 shares at an average price of EUR 42.22 per share. This corresponds to approximately 5 percent of BASF's share capital.

Of the repurchased shares, 25,975,000 have already been canceled. It is also planned to cancel the remaining 4,800,000 shares, thus reducing the company's share capital.
