AkzoNobel appoints new CIO

Pieter Schoehuijs has been appointed as AkzoNobel’s new Chief Information Officer (CIO). He took up the position on May 1. A Dutch national, Pieter (44) joined the company from Church & Dwight Corporation in New Jersey in the US, where he held the position of VP & CIO. Prior to this position, he was the Global IT Director at BASF Catalyst, formerly Engelhard, also located in the US. Pieter brings to AkzoNobel a wealth of international IT experience gained in a number of industries, including consumer goods, chemicals and general manufacturing. He succeeds Gerard Helmink, who has held various positions across Information Technology within the company for more than 40 years. Gerard will support Pieter with the transition into his new role, prior to retiring later this year.
