Changes to the Executive Board of Carl Zeiss AG

Effective 1 October 2025, Carl Zeiss AG will be making changes to its Executive Board members and reorganizing its remits.
Dr. Jochen Peter has decided not to renew his contract for another term as a member of the Executive Board of Carl Zeiss AG with responsibility for the ZEISS Industrial Quality & Research (IQR) segment. He notified the Supervisory Board of Carl Zeiss AG about this. On 30 September 2025, he will leave the company at his own request and on the best of terms to take on new professional challenges outside the ZEISS Group. He will remain available to Carl Zeiss AG until the end of 2025 to complete ongoing projects. "The Supervisory Board of Carl Zeiss AG regrets Dr. Peter's decision. He has excellently positioned and aligned the Industrial Quality & Research segment. He succeeded in tapping into important new market potential at a time when sales markets were facing massive challenges and sustainable climate protection was becoming increasingly relevant. In addition, he has made an important contribution to the development of the ZEISS Group. We would like to thank him for his dedication and for his very successful work. We wish him all the best for his future and continue to wish him every success," said Dr. Michael Bolle, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Carl Zeiss AG.
The Supervisory Board of Carl Zeiss AG has appointed Dr. Marc Wawerla as his successor and as a new member of the Executive Board effective 1 October 2025. Dr. Wawerla is currently Head of the ZEISS Industrial Quality Solutions (IQS) strategic business unit and President and CEO of Carl Zeiss Industrielle Messtechnik GmbH. "The Supervisory Board of Carl Zeiss AG is pleased to be able to appoint Dr. Marc Wawerla as a suitable successor from within the company. He has excellent global market knowledge and has demonstrated his comprehensive management and leadership skills in a wide variety of roles at ZEISS. Dr. Wawerla has already made significant contributions to the development of the Industrial Quality & Research segment in recent years, in particular to the transformation of industrial metrology within key sectors that are digitalizing their production and decarbonizing their portfolio. In appointing him, ZEISS is underlining the importance of continuity in the transformation of key customer segments. We wish him every success in his new role and all the best," said Dr. Michael Bolle.
Another change on the Executive Board of Carl Zeiss AG will be the departure of Chief Transformation Officer and Executive Board member Susan-Stefanie Breitkopf on 30 September 2025 at her own request and on the best of terms to take on new professional challenges outside the ZEISS Group. "The Supervisory Board regrets Susan-Stefanie Breitkopf's decision to leave the ZEISS Group. She set the course for an efficient and effective implementation of our digital transformation in a highly dynamic, systematic and structured way, impacting our corporate culture. She headed up the development toward a data- and process-oriented organization, the major expansion of the digital capability spectrum and the digital infrastructure," said Dr. Michael Bolle. "We would like to thank Susan-Stefanie Breitkopf for her dedication and the extremely successful work she has done. We wish her all the best for her future and continued success." The responsibilities within the CTO’s remit will be reallocated within the Executive Board of Carl Zeiss AG in line with business and customer needs, and the transformation will continue at pace. The upcoming implementation phase of the transformation programs will be carried out in the segments, countries and business supporting functions respectively. Susan-Stefanie Breitkopf will remain available to Carl Zeiss AG until the end of 2025 to complete ongoing projects.
From 1 October 2025, the Executive Board of Carl Zeiss AG will consist of the following members: Andreas Pecher (President and CEO), Stefan Müller (Chief Financial Officer), Maximilian Foerst (Head of the ZEISS Medical Technology segment), Sven Hermann (Head of the ZEISS Consumer Markets segment), Dr. Frank Rohmund (Head of the ZEISS Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology segment) and Dr. Marc Wawerla (Head of the ZEISS Industrial Quality & Research segment).
