Great Lakes Announces Polymer Additives Leadership Team
Great Lakes Chemical Corporation (NYSE:GLK) today announced changes to its polymer additives business unit. Angelo Brisimitzakis has been named Vice President and General Manager flame retardants. He joins Henri Steinmetz, VP and General Manager Polymer stabilizers and Jack Teat, VP Global Sales and Technical Service. Each will report directly to Mark Bulriss, Great Lakes Chairman, President and CEO.
"After careful consideration," stated Bulriss, " I am convinced that this organization will ensure that both the Flame Retardants and Polymer Stabilizers business, each of which represents in excess of $300 million in revenue, receive the focus required for success. Concentrating sales and technical service on a global basis will not only provide a comprehensive understanding of customer needs and market trends, but will allow us to effectively leverage our broad product basket."
Brisimitzakis is currently Vice President, Global Supply Chain. In 1998 he came to Great Lakes following 13 years of accomplishments with GE Plastics. During that period he held a number of strategic positions, including director of Asia Pacific sourcing in GE Plastics, department manager for global materials & logistics for GE's Silicone business and most recently, global business manager for elastomers within GE's Silicone group. He earned a Ph. D. in Chemistry and an MBA in Marketing from New York University.
Steinmetz joined Great Lakes in 1998 as vice president/general manager, Europe for the company's Polymer Additives business. He brought with him extensive technical service experience, ranging from operations to market development, for some of the most successful companies in the industry. Previously, he served as director business development and strategy, Europe, for M. A. Hanna Company. Prior to that he spent more than nine years with General Electric, most of which with GE Plastics Europe in various positions of increasing responsibility. He holds the MBA from Insead Fontainebleau and the MSC Metallurgy from the University of Clausthal.
Teat, a 15-year Great Lakes veteran, has spent the bulk of his career with the company in a number of positions of increasing responsibility that encompass key account management, product and market management, application/technical service and sales activities. He brings to this role a wealth of commercial leadership experience built on longstanding relationships with Great Lakes' top customers and his knowledge of the company's products and capabilities. Teat earned a B.A. in chemistry from the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill) and an international MBA from The Krannert School at Purdue University and ESC Rouen (France)/BUES University (Budapest, Hungary).
