Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) tubing and Tygon® tubing provide proven solutions for critical applications in laboratory, medical and industrial technology. These tubing systems are characterized by exceptional chemical resistance, mechanical strength and transparency.
Material Specifications and Properties
PVC tubing is manufactured from plasticized PVC-P and achieves Shore hardness between A 45° and A 92° according to DIN 53505. Tygon® tubing as a cross-linked PVC variant offers increased resistance to alkaline cleaning agents and extraction solvents. Both material types are FDA-compliant and BfR-compliant according to European Pharmacopoeia.

Technical Performance Parameters
Pressure resistance varies depending on design between 2 bar and 80 bar at +20°C. Micro tubing with inner diameters from 0.13 mm enables precise dosing in analytics. High-pressure versions achieve burst pressures up to 240 bar. The temperature range typically extends from -20°C to +74°C, with individual types capable of short-term loading up to +80°C.
Medical Technology and Pharmaceutical Applications
Tygon® tubing for medical technology applications is pyrogen-free, non-toxic and blood-compatible. The smooth inner surface prevents deposits and enables efficient cleaning cycles. Autoclavability at +121°C ensures sterile working conditions in critical processes.
Chemical Resistance and Safety Aspects
PVC tubing shows excellent resistance to diluted and concentrated acids, mineral oils, alcohols and aliphatic hydrocarbons. Antistatic versions with discharge resistances <10⁸ Ohm prevent electrostatic charging with critical media. Fire classification according to UL 94 V-0 and DIN 4102 B1 meets industrial safety standards.
