Plastic Knurled Screws for Tool-Free Assembly in Chemical and Process Engineering

RCT Reichelt Chemietechnik GmbH + Co.

Plastic knurled screws enable tool-free assembly and disassembly through their characteristic knurled surface. These fastening elements are particularly suitable for applications requiring frequent adjustments, such as in gear technology, construction engineering and operational technology.

Material Variants and Properties

Polyamide (PA) 6.6: Knurled head screws made from PA offer highest mechanical strength and fatigue resistance. The material shows excellent abrasion resistance and recovery properties while maintaining cold resistance. The chemical resistance to mineral oils, fuels, aromatic hydrocarbons, acids and alkalis makes PA screws versatile in application.

Polypropylene (PP): Standard screws according to DIN 654 made from PP are designed for temperatures up to +100°C. They are characterized by weather and UV resistance, impact strength as well as high rigidity.

Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF): This variant according to DIN 654 is suitable for extended temperature ranges from -40°C to +150°C (briefly up to +160°C). PVDF screws are preferably used in pharmaceutical industry, food technology, biotechnology and nuclear technology due to their exceptional chemical resistance to acids, alkalis, fats, alcohols, oils, halogens and oxidizing media.

Advantages over Metal Screws

  • Non-magnetic
  • Corrosion-resistant
  • Lower weight
  • Tool-free handling
  • High chemical resistance

The available range includes:

  • Knurled head screw made from PA - with slot
  • Knurled screw (DIN 654) made from PP - with slot
  • Knurled screw (DIN 654) made from PVDF - with slot
