Glass Thread Adapters for Secure GL Connections in Laboratory and Process Engineering

RCT Reichelt Chemietechnik GmbH + Co.

Glass thread adapters enable secure connection of laboratory glassware with GL threads to hose and pipe systems. These specialized connecting elements bridge the design differences between glass threads and standard connection technology in chemical process engineering.

Material diversity for different requirements

The adapters are manufactured from various high-performance plastics. Polypropylene (PP) offers mechanical strength and chemical resistance at temperatures from +5°C to +90°C. Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) is characterized by highest purity requirements and temperature resistance up to +140°C. Perfluoroalkoxy (PFA) ensures virtually universal chemical resistance from -200°C to +200°C. Polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) offers exceptional wear resistance and dimensional stability up to +180°C.

Versatile connection options

The adapter systems cover all common GL thread sizes from GL 12 to GL 45. Depending on the design, they enable connection of elastomer hoses, rigid plastic pipes or standard G threads. Pressure loads up to 6 bar for hose and thread adapters as well as up to 1 bar for pipe connectors are achievable.

Product overview

  • Thread adapters made from PP, PVDF or PFA - loose GL union nut
  • Glass thread adapters made from PBT
  • Glass olive adapters made from PBT
  • Pipe connectors made from PP, PVDF or PFA - loose GL union nut
  • Hose connectors made from PP, PVDF or PFA - loose GL union nut

The two-piece PBT designs are autoclavable and compatible with glass olives as well as various thread standards such as Normag RD 14 and Corning SQ 13.

Glass thread adapters and other products, such as thread adapters, hose barbs and fittings for hoses, are available directly in the online shop of RCT Reichelt Chemietechnik.
