Pressure Relief Valves Made of Plastic and Stainless Steel for Constant Working Pressures in Laboratory and Industry

RCT Reichelt Chemietechnik GmbH + Co.

Pressure relief valves, also referred to as overflow valves, ensure constant working pressures in chemical processes and laboratory applications. These valves protect systems from pressure spikes and provide precise pressure control for liquids and gases.

Material Diversity for Different Requirements

The available materials offer specific advantages for various applications:

PVC-U (Unplasticized Polyvinyl Chloride): Working temperatures up to +50°C, maximum operating pressure 10 bar at +20°C, opening pressure approx. 0.5 bar. Resistant to many chemicals and UV radiation.

PP (Polypropylene): Increased working temperature up to +70°C with the same pressure specifications as PVC-U. Excellent resistance to acids, alkalis and organic solvents.

PVDF (Polyvinylidene Fluoride): Working temperatures up to +100°C, high chemical resistance against aggressive media, UV-resistant and mechanically robust.

PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene): Working temperatures up to +100°C, universal chemical resistance against almost all media except alkali metals and fluorine.

Stainless Steel (1.4571): For critical applications with working temperatures up to +100°C and maximum operating pressures of 10 bar, particularly suitable for dosing pumps.

Application Areas and Specifications

For laboratory technology, pressure relief valves with internal diameters from 2.5 to 6.5 mm are available, covering performance ranges from 0.2 to 6.4 bar at flow rates up to 12 l/min. Process engineering applications use valves in nominal sizes from 10 to 50 mm with various connection options such as welding sockets or threaded connections.

The valves can be equipped with different sealing materials: EPDM for standard applications, FPM/FKM/Viton® for increased chemical resistance and FFKM/Kalrez® for extreme conditions.
