Founded in 1960 under consultancy of Professor Döring, at that time Professor at the Department of Physiology at the University of Freiburg, the company is located in the heart of the world-class, highly rewarded German engineering south-west region.

Starting with the development and manufacturing of first aid heart stimulators for humans, HSE now is a leading manufacturer of non-human use research equipment for cardiovascular and pulmonary research and other veterinary research products.

HSE was acquired in 1999 by Harvard Apparatus, which is now part of the Harvard Bioscience family of companies. Harvard Bioscience (Nasdaq: HBIO) is a global developer, manufacturer and marketer of a broad range of specialized products, in the pre clinical scientific and research markets.

As an affiliate of Harvard Apparatus HSE since 2000 serves Central Europe for the Harvard Apparatus portfolio of syringe pumps, animal ventilators, life cell imaging and others.
